Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years

Claudia Ann Nielson

Claudia Ann Sorenson Nielson, 78, passed away at her home in Worland, Wyoming on February 3, 2024 after a long battle with lymphoma.

Claudia was born on December 4, 1945 to Peter Jay Sorenson and Jeanette (Hanks) Sorenson in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City and then attended Brigham Young University. There she met her husband, Bruce Nielson. They were married in August 1967 and became parents to two perfect and two decent children.

Claudia was her children's champion, attending all of their school and extracurricular activities, extending her support to her kids' friends and classmates. She loved holidays, Christmas, and Halloween particularly, and left no corner undecorated in her home. She and Bruce loved taking their kids to the Bighorn Mountains to explore and play in the creek.

Claudia loved people and developed strong relationships. She loved spending time with her cross-stitch group and close friends. Their love and support were invaluable to her. Claudia worked hard and was generous with her time and money. She took care of the people around her: friends, family, coworkers, and acquaintances alike. She always had a $1 bill she would slyly slip into their hands. She was a great tipper.

Claudia was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Jeanette Sorenson; brother, Stephen Sorenson and granddaughter, Allison Esco.

She is survived by her husband Bruce; children, spouses, grandchildren and one great-granddaughter: Matt Nielson, Ashlie and Ryan Esco (Riley, Luke and Ava Wesemann, Max Esco, Abby Esco, Tom Esco), Aaron and Diane Nielson, Meg and Jason Graf (Lucy, Nora, Gracie and Marian), her sisters-in-law: Corinne Sorenson, Maxine Memmott, Judy Nielson, brother-in-law, Kent Nielson and an amazing group of cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 8, 2024 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel with Bishop Josh Hansen officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held 7:00 PM Wednesday, February 7 and also one hour prior. Graveside services will be held at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Worland Volunteer Fire Department and sent to PO Box 524, Worland, Wyoming, 82401. Online condolences may be made at http://www.bryant
