Public Health Nursing Manager Amanda Heinemeyer attended the Washakie County Commissioner meeting on Tuesday, March 19 to discuss the opportunity to offer basic first aid and CPR courses to all Washakie County employees. Eugene John Leone, age 75, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2024, at Mountain View VA Medical Center in Sheridan, Wyoming. Gene was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 14, 1948, to Eugene and Betty (Konecny) Leone. A short time after his birth, the family moved across the country to Southern California, where he grew up in Orange County. A big shout out to Kendra Ware and the Mental Fitness Fair Committee who put on a event on Saturday. There were great speakers covering a lot of topics, a wealth of information. There was a great crowd on hand to listen and learn. This was not a “fun” event but one for learning to help yourself and to help others who may struggle with mental fitness. During the March 14 meeting of the Hot Springs School District No. 1 Board of Trustees, a celebration was held to recognize educators whose classes achieved top 10 scores in Wyoming in either the ACT or Wyoming Test of Proficiency and Progress tests taken this school year. Wasting little time, the Worland High School track and field team opened their season with a great showing at the Glen Legler Early Bird meet at Natrona High School in Casper on March 16. The Lady Warriors not only won their opening meet of the season but did so convincingly.
