    WORLAND – The Washakie County Commissioners officially declared the office vacant for the seat previously held by late Commissioner Dale Wagner. Wagner, who was in the midst of his first four-year term as one of Washakie County’s three commissioners, died in Billings after a brief battle with cancer on May 22.     Ethel Parkin Akin was reunited with her husband Bob and other happy family members on Wednesday, June 1, 2016. She passed away at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Billings, Montana. Ethel truly loved her family by keeping an immaculate home, taking her children to church, making sure they were neatly dressed and expected them to do well in school, to respect their parents and to be good citizens.   • Casper hospital lays off 58 employees

    CASPER (AP) — Wyoming Medical Center in Casper has laid off 58 workers, bringing more bad news to an area already reeling from the depressed mining industry. Hospital CEO Vickie Diamond says the job cuts announced Tuesday are expected to save the hospital $7.2 million. In addition to the layoffs, the hospital will leave vacant another 57 positions. Combined, the job cuts and vacant positions amount to 9 percent of the hospital’s workforce. The 217-bed hospital had 1,125 employees before the layoffs.
