The Washakie County Fair kicks off this Saturday with the youth horse show and a full slate of shows and entertainment starting next Monday. This year’s fair will look slightly different due to COVID-19 but unlike some county fairs that have canceled most entertainment, the area county fairs, Washakie, Hot Springs and Big Horn County are moving forward with mostly typical lineups. WORLAND – Washakie County Public Health Nurse Manager Amanda Heinemeyer reported to the county commissioners Tuesday that Washakie County Public Health (WCPH) had received $130,000 in Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding for the testing of uninsured and underinsured individuals in Washakie County. WORLAND - Worland High School ag science and business teacher Grace Godfrey was honored earlier this summer as the Wyoming Vocational Ag Teachers Association Teacher of the Year. As a state award winner, Godfrey is eligible for the National Association of Agriculture Educators Teacher of the Year which should be announced next month. WORLAND — Political campaigning in city parks came under scrutiny at Tuesday night’s Worland City Council meeting. City Attorney Kent Richins said there was a political event at Pioneer Square earlier in the evening. WORLAND – The Washakie County School District No. 1 Board of Trustees passed their budget for the 2020-21 fiscal year during their monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 15. The general fund saw a slight increase from last year’s budget up to just over $25.8 million, from the $25.6 million that was budgeted for last year’s general fund. WORLAND - For the third year in a row the Washakie County Fair Board contracted with professional event consultant Daniel Kosel to set up the musical lineup for this year's Washakie County Fair. This year due to COVID-19 concerns the board opted for three days of music instead of six. Kosel said while the lineup is half as many days there is still quite a variety of music genres for people to enjoy. BernaDene Horton Waddell passed from this life to her heavenly home on June 29, 2020, at the Dialysis Center of St Joseph's Hospital in the arms of Francis, her husband of 40 years. BernaDene was born on Jan. 13, 1943 in Greybull, Wyo., the third child to Orthello and Emma Horton. Orthello was a brakeman for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. CODY — Park County voters will be asked on this year’s general election ballot if they want to approve a form of legalized gambling in their community. The board sought a variance to the order allowing only 250 people to gather at outdoor events. The variance sought up to 750 guests and outlines a plan of separating the bleacher seating by taping off every other row to encourage social distancing. A Uinta County man who died recently in another state has been added to Wyoming’s total number of deaths related to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), according to the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH). The adult man had health conditions recognized as putting patients at higher risk of serious illness related to COVID-19. He had been previously included in Wyoming’s case count and was hospitalized in another state when he died.
