The Central Administration Office will be named after longtime custodian Joe Arnold following a unanimous vote by the Hot Springs County School District No. 1 Board of Trustees last Tuesday, July 18. Washakie County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in locating a missing Worland woman. Sheriff Austin Brookwell said the Sheriff's Office was informed on Saturday at 8:59 p.m. that Breanna Mitchell, 28, was missing. Searches have been conducted by Search and Rescue, family members, friends and volunteers on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Resources used include horses, Civil Air Patrol, private aircraft, Guardian Flight and a bloodhound from a volunteer from Fremont County....
Shirley Jane Mead, 87, passed away on July 19, 2023 at the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Shirley was born on August 11, 1935, in Billings, Montana, to Lincoln Abraham and Merle Alice (Miller) McCann. At five years old, the family moved from Billings to Hysham, Montana, where Shirley's father worked at Midland Implement as a mechanic. She was born on December 9, 1935 in Rocks Springs, WY to Frank and Lucy (Calligaro) Gentilini. She grew up in Rock Springs and was the oldest of six siblings. The 22nd annual Rhubarb Rhevival is soliciting contestants who will vie for prizes at the Washakie County Fair on Saturday, July 29 at 2 p.m. in the administration building at the fairgrounds. The budget hearing of the Washakie County School District No. 2 Board of Trustees on July 19 was brief, but the general fund amount of $3,614,275 was announced and adopted by the board. The school’s business administrator Rachel Casteel prefaced this number by saying that all numbers discussed in the meeting were still preliminary and subject to change. Worland High School senior and Chief Washakie FFA member Sydnee Roady competed in her third National High School Finals Rodeo last week in Gillette. Roady competed in the reined cow horse competition. On her first ride on Monday, July 17, Roady placed fourth with a score of 282. CODY —- Yet again, the city of Cody Planning and Zoning board has delayed making final decisions on the proposed Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints temple to be located off Skyline Drive, as members tabled approval of the site plan during their July 25 special meeting — for the third time. Cheyenne teen dies in Colorado crash that results in death of two others CHEYENNE (WNE) — A Cheyenne teen was among three individuals killed in a car accident last week, according to Colorado State Patrol.
