    Redistricting in Wyoming seems to have gotten harder this year than in past decades due to declining population in certain areas. Listening to a portion of the Joint Corporations Committee work on the plans from all 10 regions in the state, it appears there are issues in several regions with at least three of them outside the preferred plus or minus 5% deviation from the ideal population.     At the Washakie County School District No. 1 school board meeting on Oct. 25, a number of students and members of the community approached the board with a simple request: to start a Gay-Straight Alliance club, also known as a GSA.   • 15-cent fuel tax increase to be considered by Legislature

    SHERIDAN —With a 9-2 vote Tuesday, the Wyoming Legislature’s Transportation, Highways and Military Affairs Committee opted to forward a bill that would raise the state’s fuel tax for the first time in a decade. The bill suggests a 15-cent fuel tax increase from 24 cents to 39 cents by July 1, 2024. The fuel tax would be increased by 5 cents per year for three consecutive years.     Deanna Jeanne Blincow, 77, passed away at the Thermopolis Rehabilitation Center on Monday, December 6, 2021. Deanna was born in Worland, Wyoming to Thomas and Mayme (Breeden) Bader on June 23, 1944. Her childhood years were spent in Ten Sleep, Wyoming, graduating high school in 1962.     Next Thursday will be the annual Memory Tree ceremony. Each Christmas season, this celebration is put on by parents and supporters of Washakie County Special Olympics. This is a fundraiser in which a person’s name can be placed on an ornament that is hung on the large evergreen tree at Pioneer Square.     WORLAND — Worland Mayor Jim Gill appointed and the council approved the appointment of Alain Poncelet to the Board of Adjustment and Planning Commission (BAPC). The BAPC has been missing its seventh member since Jenn Rasmussen’s resignation in the spring.     It is with deep sorrow we mourn the passing of our beloved Josephine Dorothy Garretson. Josephine passed on November 25, 2021 at the age of 93 at the Billings Clinic in Montana. Josephine was born in Sheridan, Wyoming July 23, 1928, the only daughter born to Dominck and Jennie (Gricoli) Montagne. She grew up watching baseball with her brothers and fell in love with the sport. She never missed a New York Yankee game. At a young age, she met her husband, Lee Garretson, in Clearmont, Wyoming.
