    We like to have fun in our newsroom and last Tuesday as we were beginning to digest election results and add up numbers from various precincts one of our reporters asked jokingly, “Are we using COVID math or regular math?” I emphatically said no, there would be no COVID math involved in election vote tallies.     WORLAND — Write-in nominations have filled out the races for Worland City Council. Keith McDonald accepted a write-in nomination to challenge Jim Gill for mayor. The two faced off in 2016 with Gill winning 1,320 votes to 844 votes. According to Washakie County Clerk Mary Grace Strauch, there were five qualified write-in nominations for mayor with Karl Jay Hergert leading with nine write-in votes.     WORLAND - Several businesses and groups gathered nearly 20 years ago to enhance the South Worland Pond, just south of the airport and the Green Hills Golf Course, and now several city departments are working to keep the recreation area nice.     Shirley Thurman, 91, a long time Ten Sleep resident, passed away on August 22, 2020 in Worland, Wyoming. Shirley was born 18 Aug 1929 to Zula Grace (Arnold) and Rouse Wellington Anderson in Ten Sleep. She and her siblings grew up on the Anderson ranch one mile east of Ten Sleep. Her maternal grandparents, Bert and Mabel Arnold lived nearby, as did many of her aunts, uncles and cousins.     CHEYENNE, Wyo. – An extension to Wyoming’s current public health orders released today by the Wyoming Department of Health contain no changes. The orders, which remain in effect through September 15, continue to allow outdoor gatherings of no more than 50% of venue capacity, with a maximum of 1,000 people as long as social distancing and increased sanitization measures are in place.     CHEYENNE — Additional coronavirus-related deaths among Wyoming residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 have been confirmed, according to a press release by Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) released on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 1. An older adult Fremont County woman with health conditions recognized as putting patients at higher risk of serious illness related to COVID-19 died in late August.
