WORLAND — Write-in nominations have filled out the races for Worland City Council. Keith McDonald accepted a write-in nomination to challenge Jim Gill for mayor. The two faced off in 2016 with Gill winning 1,320 votes to 844 votes. According to Washakie County Clerk Mary Grace Strauch, there were five qualified write-in nominations for mayor with Karl Jay Hergert leading with nine write-in votes. WORLAND – The Washakie County School District No. 1 Board of Trustees met on Monday night, Aug. 24, via Zoom to hear updates from administrators and to hire several positions to start the year. WORLAND – Bronze sculptor Chris Navarro of Casper has been sculpting full-time for 35 years, creating countless masterpieces around the state of Wyoming, and opening a new traveling exhibit at the Washakie Museum & Cultural Center (WM&CC) last Thursday, Aug. 20. WORLAND - Several businesses and groups gathered nearly 20 years ago to enhance the South Worland Pond, just south of the airport and the Green Hills Golf Course, and now several city departments are working to keep the recreation area nice. Shirley Thurman, 91, a long time Ten Sleep resident, passed away on August 22, 2020 in Worland, Wyoming. Shirley was born 18 Aug 1929 to Zula Grace (Arnold) and Rouse Wellington Anderson in Ten Sleep. She and her siblings grew up on the Anderson ranch one mile east of Ten Sleep. Her maternal grandparents, Bert and Mabel Arnold lived nearby, as did many of her aunts, uncles and cousins. CHEYENNE, Wyo. – An extension to Wyoming’s current public health orders released today by the Wyoming Department of Health contain no changes.
